The lore, the aesthetics, the art to create the world of Krat in Lies of P is absolutely delightful to me. I enjoyed the world in the base game despite the struggles with the boss fights. And when the DLC was released, I bought it and decided to play it.
What I enjoyed:
The artwork:
- Continuing with the base game, the world and art are just absolutely delightful!
- The museum, the shipwreck area, Monard, all well created, with a lot of attention to details
- The iconography to guide you through side-quests is also really really thoughtful!
- The intricacies of the stories throughout the game, the NPCs showing up
- Collecting the records and playing them in Krat
- The record player delivering messages — some creepy, but a great way to break the monotony of the game, and a switch from the base-game’s telephones throughout Krat
The Gameplay:
- The game features a boss that I think is the best souls-boss design
- The crit-hits for the Anguished Guardian and for the Arleccino (with Lea, in P2) are absolutely amazing cinema! Therapeutic in the middle of some intense fights
- The little side-quests are cute
- The boss designs are unique and creative, Markiona: Puppeteer of Death is a cleverly designed boss that will trick most players
What I did not enjoy:
The story / lore:
- A great story told badly, I don’t know how or who some of the bosses are
- I still don’t understand why or how I went back in time
- I’m still confused about Lea, Carlo, Romeo, and P
- What was Geppetto’s ending appearance
Boss Designs
- The first boss is designed terribly: the arena is small, the boss is large and moves a lot
- The final boss is just shit, it’s like the devs played the pre-nerf Consort Radahn and decided to challenge themselves on how to make a boss worse than that
- The underground world in the mountains
- The side quest where I have to stand at some perfect angle to throw thermites at a wall, I got 1 out of 12 throws at the target, and I did not finish the quest
