I came into this game after Jedi 1, Jedi 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. 2 of my good friends are souls / souls-like fans, they were playing this and I decided to play because the story / lore / world was fascinating to me. This was my first true souls-like game, and my God, I hate this genre.

  1. LoP is a fantastic game, this game did not crash even once throughout my play. Having followed this game online, I don’t think the devs get enough credit for how much of a finished product this game was, on release
  2. The story was fantastic and everything I hoped for it to be, the lore videos from KiteTales and some others really made this game so much more engaging and entertaining — really well done by the story devs of this game
  3. The world was fantastic. I really enjoyed what Krat looked like and walking around Krat, the steampunk vibe is fascinating to me, and I enjoyed the world in this game
  4. The concept of having music in the game (and records collection) was an absolute joy, as someone who loves the idea of collecting records, I really was looking forward to this. unfortunately, the experience in-game was a letdown. I hardly have 4-5 records and no clue on how to get the remaining unless I spend hours in the game or YouTube
  5. The idea of having custom weapons and all sorts of absurd ones made for great videos but in my first run, I did not play with anything other than the Trident, felt like a missed opportunity to make some of the bosses a bit easier to beat with a combination of weapons
  6. The concept of various things like fire, electricity, acid was really intelligently done. Very frustrating at times but a fun twist
  7. Throwables did not do nearly enough damage and were expensive / hard to come by so as a n00b player, disappointed
  8. The Legion arm concept was genius. Loved every bit of it once I unlocked the third level of the puppet string. The jump and slam was very satisfying when it landed. The Aegis arm was not as OP or helpful as the Internet made it sound
  9. The filler levels were an absolute drag (Chapter 4, 8 and 10) to get through, I am realizing that these are a hallmark of souls-like, so I think the game delivered, it’s just not for me
  10. Some of the boss fights were absolutely anger-inducing and frustrating (2nd brotherhood fight pre-patch, corrupted parade master (no specter), a few minor bosses come to mind) – brotherhood fight post patch was done in first run, so I guess the devs knew something was off
  11. Laxasia was a bad boss, I was only able to finish it because of a glitch in the game. This seems like me vs the concept of souls-like so another one of those “not for me” things
  12. Not being able to track which quartz I don’t have was just making me angry because I wanted to play the game and not waste time doing this quartz hunting side gig
  13. I would’ve personally enjoyed more variety of weapons in the early game allowing me either do more damage or have a more balanced fight if I used specific weapons (electric coil was a game changer, would’ve enjoyed more variety vs enemies)
  14. The specter wishstone not refilling on its own and requiring me to go to a stargazer and re-equip was just plain garbage

This game was fantastic dev, story, lore, world, and from what I gathered, true to the concept of souls-like; the concept isn’t just something that I liked.
